Most: Plants that must have a rich soil and plenty of compost |
Strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrants, broccoli, sprouts, celery, celeriac, runner beans, maincrop peas, asparagus, artichokes, onions |
Some: Plants that will produce a reasonable crop on less good soil |
Lettuces, summer turnip, summer beetroot, spinach, swedes, sea kale and spinach beet, Jerusalem artichoke, leeks, Savoy cabbages, kale, broad beans |
None: Plants which definitely dislike fresh manure or compost |
Carrots, beetroot, root vegetables in general, spring cabbage (when they are planted out) |
