Container Vegetable Gardens

Container vegetable gardens are a great way to get vegetables for eating on a daily basis. If you learn what grows in your area and when you can have the right things planted at the right times and enjoy eating vegetables by simply going out to your containers and grabbing whatever you need.

It is a wonderful feeling to know that you have fresh yummy vegetables that are organic, full of nutrients and super healthy waiting for you when you want them.

Many different types of containers can be used. It is usually best to start with figuring out what types of veggies you want to eat and then determine what containers fit them. Start by asking other gardeners in your area what they recommend. Typically if someone has been growing in an area for a while in containers, they will be a great help to you with ideas for the best containers to use and for which types of vegetables. They will probably be able to help you decide how to best use your space as well. Also be sure to ask them what the best times are for planting the vegetables that you want to grow.

One good thing to do to get organized is to make a chart of what to grow and when so you are ready when a new growing season comes along and can quickly move your containers to the next thing you want to grow.

Vegetable container gardening is very rewarding but it is also a lot of work. Be prepared to spend many hours to get started if you want to grow a lot of different vegetables but also keep in mind that you can go in stages. You can start with just tomatoes or whatever is in season for you at this time and make a couple of containers. So while it takes a lot of effort, by breaking it into chunks of activity you can get started and have good vegetables growing quickly and once you do that you will be hooked!
