Moist soil, preferably under trees
Cultivation Notes: Invasive. Plant freshly ripened seed direct or in trays in early Summer, or dig up bulbs in Summer after they have died down and replant immediately in growing site. Harvest from third year.

General: Juice can be used as a moth repellent and general household disinfectant.
Garden Use: Companions - A good companion for everything except peas, beans and other legumes. Deters - insects esp. moths, moles
Culinary Use: Leaves, flowers, bulbs and young seed pods raw or cooked in salad, soups, stews and leaves as a spinach substitute or for pesto.
Medical Use: The most important active constituent is not destroyed by conventional cooking but does not survive microwave cooking. Boosts the immune system. Promotes general health, reduces high blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels. Anti-bacterial, antiseptic and febrifuge. Lowers blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar. Use internally to prevent infection and for colds, coughs, flu and gastroenteritis. Use externally for skin problems, including fungal infections. Can be taken to lower blood sugar levels in diabetes, to slow arteriosclerotic deterioration and lessen the risk of a heart attack.
